My boyfriend and I were given matching bedside lamps as a gift shortly before our relationship crumbled. In my heavy hearted state, every night before I went to bed I would picture him as I switched off my lamp, a housewarming gift for an apartment we would never move into. The imagery made me dream of him every night to a point where I wished he would leave my dreams alone and I could regain my thoughts to myself.

The lamp ended up in a box gathering dust. Maybe I’ll be strong enough one day. Or, does anyone need a lamp?
